CELEBRATION OF GOSPEL – “TAKING YOU HIGHER”: BET’s inspirational gospel special available on DVD.

BET’s popular inspirational music special, Celebration of Gospel, returned last January with some of the biggest names in gospel and secular music. The two-hour telecast, which secured a place on BET’s list of Top 25 telecasts of all time, was released on DVD on May 8. “Celebration of Gospel – Taking You Higher!” featured performances by Kirk Franklin, Yolanda Adams, Fantasia, Pastor Shirley Caesar, Fred Hammond and Tye Tribbett and GA, among others. Tyler Perry was this year’s guest of honor.

The DVD also includes behind-the-scene footage, exclusive interviews and bonus foot stomping, handraising praise and worship performances.

When Tye Tribbett was asked what celebration of gospel meant to him, he replied, “Gospel music is the only music with substance. All other music doesn’t have the weight that it has or the hope.”

And keeping with tradition, Tribbett and GA delivered their high-spirited performance, keeping the audience on its feet.
