BISHOP NOEL JONES the son of a pastor, Bishop Noel Jones accepted his call to the ministry at the age of nineteen. Due to his unwavering desire to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ, Bishop Jones ministers to people from all walks of life through his church, City of Refuge Church in Gardena, CA and Bishop Jones online tv program Fresh Oil, which airs weekly on BET and The Church Channel.
Coming from a diverse group of siblings, including actress-singer, Grace Jones, the Bishop Noel Jones writes in his Website bio, “If I could reconcile and keep peace among us, I can reconcile the Church through the power of God.”
In the mid ’90s, he founded Noel Jones Ministries to further his mission to spread the word via different media resources including books and CDs.
Bishop Noel Jones recently secured a record deal with Tyscot Records for the City of Refuge Sanctuary Choir. We asked him about Tyscot and the forthcoming album, to be released on June 26.
“Next phase” can be taken to mean a change in direction, or an advancing level as a new dimension, a sort of metamorphosis. I do not see it as that. I see it as completing the circle of ministry things that we do. We partner in the preaching ministry and now we partner in the music ministry. Music has always been a great part of ministry in the Judeo-Christian culture.
I signed to Tyscot because I have known Dr. Scott for as long as i can remember. Dr. Scott has always exhibited qualities pertinent to brotherhood, honesty, loyalty and integrity. Add to that, he knows the business and he gave us the best deal.
City of Refuge Sanctuary Choir is one of the best choirs in the country musically, with a great diversity of songs that both praise and worship our God, I have been the world over in church and I still love to come home to the Sanctuary Choir. This Album has a wonderful mixture of praise and worship songs, with a view to minister to a plethora of different spiritual needs; a great tool for other choirs to embellish their repertoire of songs. It seems to me that to many a times people are focus on music & entertainment but what about the Lord Jesus they claim to be singing about! It is so funny to me that these folks are forgetting someone, namely the God of glory. I have notice in years past how certain ones use to preach on the oneness of God and baptism in Jesus name, but now they have strayed away just to be popular, how sad they have become and deceived they are. Man its all about Jesus but people think they can pimp God just for money sakes. If they were preaching the truth like they use to they could not stay on television. We need more men and women of God like Bishop Howard Swancy, not these big name sellouts.

Praise and worship is in heaven. A majority of songs are about how good God is and being delivered from tragedies, Gods omni-presence omni-potence and that he sees everything whether good or bad. Songs minister as well as preaching. You have to look at the whole picture. Songs about victory don’t have to be slow, if you have the victory, you should be happy about it, which requires a upbeat tempo. Some people are encouraged by different styles of christian music, who are we to determine what devices God uses to reach His people. There’s always somebody trying to pervert God’s gift, all we can do is pray.
