When you face life’s trials and tribulations, it some time feels like you under constant attack. All of us handle trials and tribulations his or her own way. That is certainly the case with award winning gospel artist Tonex.
In the song entitled “The Naked Truth“, the award-winning gospel singer raps about being “truthful” to the world. At one point during the expletive-laden song, Tonex appears to be coming clean with his sexuality – he sings, “I did it, I made it …[I'm] the genius, the faggot, the weirdo, the hobo, the homo, the magnet.“
Tonex decided to take matters into his own hands by responding – with a few expletive words – to the gay insinuations made by gossip Website, MediaTakeOut.com.
The reason why we are telling you this? is because Tonex didn’t distributed a news release or write an Open Letter to squash the rumor.
Tonex decided to uploaded a video on YouTube.com to respond to MediaTakeOut’s innuendo but the video has now been removed.

Ok…We know that in gospel music…ministers hypocritically denounce homosexuality and then hired one ol’ church queen to run their music ministry. Solo artists are no different. The gospel music industry is ‘laden’ with homosexuals. I think this is soo dangerous in a time with confused kids looking for answers. What kills me is this…most of the preachers who denounce homosexuality only have certificates that authorize them to preach. They have no foundation in the study of the word and no education in theology. Hmmmm….so is this the kinda “shepherd” you wanna follow. One that has not studied to show himself approved.

I heard the video and I do not for one believe he is claiming to be a homsexual…what I believe is that he was using all the names and metaphors used to describe him to say “I am the one who made it and all you want to come and see me and do what I do” he did not mean that a preacher molested him a age 6 but that a man of God touched him and anointed him. Why are we so fast to run to spread rumors….Tonex is going through a trial at this time and he needs our prayers. I for one want to see and hear this minister continue with the Faith!

Tonex is an anointed man of God. When we are in the world, even though we are God’s children, the minute we decide to take a stand and accept Christ, the enemy gets upset. As children and people of God, there are spiritual darkness in this world just waiting to unleash itself upon us, especially if we are doing God’s will. Jesus said it, “Simon, Simon, the enemy desires to sift you as wheat, but I have prayed for you! With this as an example, the word didn’t say that as Christians (preists, pastors, performers, deacons, etc) we would not fail, would not falter, would not slip nor slide. The Word did not say that we are perfect now, but that we are ‘being perfected.’ I personally was in a 12 year relationship which my partner one day walked away from. What do I tell my children? If I allowed it to drive me crazy? all the questions? all the silence? no closure? Had I not known to ‘lean on God’s everlasting arms’ and to ‘keep my eyes on Him, where would I be today? I say all this to say that WE ARe ALL HUMAN and we don’t know our breaking point. Refer to the Old Testament where Elisha, empowered by the Spirit of God was able to rid the country of X amount of thousands of preists, summon fire to come from heaven to burn up their sacrifices and altars, yet in the next chapter, in his human state, he is close to suicidal, hiding out in a cavern…or even David, the descendant of Jesus, a man after God’s own heart, who God was pleased with, yet he, David in his carnal state, lusted after Bathsheba and set it up so that her husband could be killed at war (putting him in the front line). We are all human and situations come to test us, and when we fall, it might not be attractive, but its part of our very human self. The God we serve has it all figured out though, because our very test, He always uses it as a testimony or to deliver or encourage someone else! What is important is that WITH PRAYER we get back up again! I say all this to say that all God’s children are under attack by the enemy! Look around you! Hezekiah being labeled gay (false) Kirk Franklin weakness of the flesh (which he prayerfully continues to grow strength from strength) Donnie McClurkin (success with overcoming with his) and these are just the celebrities?! I thank God for them because testimonies in the form of songs like You Covered Me (DLawrence & Hez) and God Kept Me or God Blocked It to name a few, are the lyrics which can inspire someone else who is in that situation. Ask yourself, What about the church? the day to day person like me? or you? or Pastors whose children run astray? Its the enemy! The Word says, “for the weapons of our warfare are NOT CARNAL BUT SPIRITUAL to the tearing down of strongholds and the best way to deal with strongholds is through prayer! So cover Tonex more than ever before! Ask God to give him strength to overcome, let the word not get lost, let the enemy lift his hands off him. I believe that when he comes back, HE WILL HAVE A MESSAGE. God will restore ALL THE YEARS that Tonex sowed in tears! He’s in a Job position right now, but ‘greater is He (Christ) that is in me than he (enemy) who is in the world. I know many men like Tonex who the vices of the world come upon them (including my partner) to sift them as wheat…but Christ has already said, “I have prayed for you”! So keep praying, like Christ, for Tonex and for the carnal worldly apostles, the church and those of us whom the enemy is attempting to wipe out. When God looks down for a guard standing upon the wall to intercede (old testament) let there be somebody praying, crying, interceding….and let it be us, the saints He has appointed and commissioned to do so, through prayer for Our Body, the Body of the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

This young man is asking for forgiveness, I believe we got this all backwards and mess-up so badly, no I do not hate gays, I just don’t agree what they stand for when it comes to sexual content. But than I look at the fact they are still children of God, he or she will have to give account to God when that time comes just like we saints, aints, and so call christian folks. I know it get’s depressing but you know that therefore there is no condemnation to those who are in Christ. Confess the word and give God the glory for the things he has done. I just send you peace and blessings. I do not know if you are gay or bi or straight or whatever and it is none of my business nor the worlds. God can use anyone to deliver a message and to heal. So often in life, Christians get so self-absorbed to believe that this world is about us and it is not. We are each others angels and I send you peace, joy and blessings. For anyone that has anything to say about you, they should read the Bible…for he who is without sin, cast the first stone. Whatever spiritual journey that God has you on, I pray that you have strength to endure it. God makes us perfect for his glory not ours. I pray that you forgive yourself and anyone that may have hurt you. God is the only person that will never fail us. Do not get caught up in the Church hype because people can only love how they know to love. Many churchgoers are spiritually numb, therefore they can not empathize with the pain that you might be going through. Just keep seeking God and your light will shine and your life’s purpose will be made clear to you.

Can I just tell you AMEN to that. So often we as Chrisitians point fingers, toes and whatever else we could, look in our backyard and it’s so much garbage back there and this person should be seeking Christ everyday for their own mess. Take the building out of your eye before you try and take the wood out of mine (paraphrasing). You can tell some of the Chrisitians have not applied the word to their lives, always learning but never coming into the full knowledge. If so prayer would be going on instead of pointing, nine times out of ten your still here(on this earth) because you have work to do, so Jesus didn’t say well done your not perfect and he’s no respect of person get your own house in order. Kimmie, just keep searching and seeking God also. I attend church and I am saved, I just know that God watches me everywhere including outside of the Church. When we join together to talk about what is going on with an individual, unless we are lending help, we are gossiping or operating out of blasphemy. If you hear of your fellow sister or bother, in Christ or not…fellow human hurting…pray. A blind man can see that Tonex is hurting and everyone wants to play victim. Jesus died on the cross for our sins and so that we can be made whole. The Bible says to crucify our flesh so that we can become Christ like. Throughout the Bible, you never heard of Jesus talking to the disciples, saying…um, I can’t believe that sister such and such is going through…. or brother such and such has the evil spirit of homosexuality, we should pray. Christians need to be in action, being about God’s work not talking about it. We are in perilous times and God is to great and mighty for us to be playing church and playing with lives. Stop talking about your fellow Christians, intercede for them. We do not know why Tonex is or if he is singing on the homosexual cruise ship, however, if that is the case, how can these individuals be delivered and set free if everyone is to afraid to assist them with delivering and setting free. Jesus never said, I can not go into the wilderness because sin might be there…to be a catalyst for change, we have to become committed to change and to allowing ourselves to be changed and made whole. I just have a few things to say on this subject, Tonex visited my church back in 2005 and he placed his hands on my daughter and she was delivered from the obstacle she was facing at the moment one thing I do know is that the anointing is on this man he need prays right now not to be judged who are we to judge him read the word if we are children of God we would show love not hate what ever God has to take him through to get to where he is suppose to be in His kingdom. We have to remember that God does not think like we do obviously he has been fighting with homosexuality for some time and God Knows this because he created him. If we are Christ like we would have an understanding on what is going on in his life right now. There is a lot of Christians that fight with this area in there life that will not tell the truth about themselves one thing we have to do is admit our sin not to the world but to Christ this is just a way God is able to show his Glory through Tonex “NOTHING IS TO HARD FOR GOD”

If Tonex is suffering from the Spirit of Homosexuality, Bisexuality we need to pray that spirit down. I get sick of people judging. I am disappointed because we are not doing enough to stop the things many of are exposed to: rape and incest. It is a secret in the African-American community. Many have been destroyed and turn to this life because of the pain, violation and rejection. The Church needs to address these issues but don’t just gloss over the fact that so and so slept (a man) with his male cousin or nephew.

“Let he who is without sin cast the first stone” Jesus put it so perfectly well when the people were about to stone that woman. Everybody is jumping on a band wagon with this story, because it’s bringing excitement to some dull part of their lives. Some of the comments that I have heard from”believers” have really surprised me. The bible instructs to judge not, but on a even different note why it seems people are putting degrees on sin and casting Tonex to hell. The last time I checked the Word said for the wages of sin is death. It did not stipulate what sin, which one or how bad, it just said sin. So now that tells me the folks who are gossiping, backbiting, lying or whatever the sin or issue may be are on their way to hell too. They may or may not be in the public eye, but trust God knows and sees all. We all could use prayer; we all could stand to have a deeper relatiohship with God and we all have fell short of the glory of God. So I say to you Tonex and to all who may read this “forget those things which are behind and press toward the mark of the high calling” ; you all know the rest. Don’t continute to live in guilt for whatever reason, press towards a deeper call in God. Instead bashing Tonex, intercede for him through prayer and positive confessions. Speak life through the word and in faith for him.

I first met Tonex in San Diego. We went to the same church back in 88/89 Christ Temple. He had an amazing voice then and still have an amazing voice. God put people here in this world for a reason and have an plan if we allow him to use us. People come in all different size, form, color, shape and everything. People are always judging other instead of allowing God to do his will. This person can be put into your life for a reason in which you neglet allowing someone else to steal your reward. Judge not, you are not God, just take what God gives you and use it to the best of your advantage. The world is so judgemental no matter who you are there is always going to be something negative someone has to say. Just take the positve thing, use that and allow God to work miracles into your life. No one and I mean no lives the way the bible says, that’s why he died for our sins, he can forgive us. Who is anyone to judge this man. His music is annointing and that can be what God wants you to get from it. He can use everyone no matter who you are. Stop judging people and look to the man above for strength in an annointing person that God has allowed to share his unique voice with. Sometimes we get so caught up in lifes drama that we miss the message. I know most of these were posted awhile ago but I do have a comment. I recently saw Tonex in concert and though his message was good and I hope and believe his heart is sincere we have to understand that not everyone can minister all the time. For instance should we still love and pray for Tonex? OF COURSE. Should we still treat him with respect and show the love of Jesus to him? OF COURSE. That is what Jesus would want. My point is, if he is not gay, because I will not accuse anyone I will just say if he is not gay the Bible clearly says to “abstain from even the appearance of wrong doing” and I will say with his Permed, styled, streaked hair, and tight pants he appears to be gay and that is sending the wrong message to kids. We need a higher standard church and I still got mad love for him but it is nto sending the right image out because ministers are held at a higher standard. Similar to why a youth pastor should not live with her boyfriend even if they are not sleeping together . It would send the wrong image to kids and she could say, I’m not sleeping with him we are only roommates or better yet just yell at everyone and say mind your business I will be roommates with anyone I want nad it could truthfully be possible that she was not sleeping with him, but it would still be very strongly sending the wrong message to kids. Now I said all that to say, if Tonex is not gay and he may not be, he sure looks like it. No we should not judge but the scripture does say “stay away from even the appearance of evil” and it is sending hte wrong message out to kids with his fresh perm and long bangs, and tight pants. I do not want to see the young boys who may look up to him to start going to the salon getting their hair done, getting perms, streaks etc. It is not a good influence and YES HE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE IMAGE HE SENDS, yea yea out the box whatever. He is not sending the right image to kids, the Bible says homosexuality is wrong and whether he is one I do not know, I hope not, but if he is not he IS RESPONSIBLE for his image and his image is showing that he is. I am not judging the Bible does that I am once again stating to ‘abstain from the appear of evil’ just like in the situation of a youth pastor living with her boyfriend but not having sex with him. No one would know she wasnt sleeping with him and most would agree she was wrong as the Bible says ’stay away from the appearance of wrong doing’ and he looks as if he is gay and that is sending the wrong image to our kids, even if he is not gay. I will pray for him and he deserves to be shown God’s love but not everyone should minster period. Ministers are called to a higher standard, that’s Biblical too.

We really need to lift up all of our leaders, ministers, and people that are on the come-up! The enemy is literally coming in like a flood and not trying but successfully drowning our leaders, ministers (etc…) and their mantles! Forget about the act; we’ve ALL sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, but God mercifully gives us His hand and pulls us back up. I never got to see the video and I’m not sure if I care to. But I know that even after all that’s said and done, the Lifter of our Heads is going to continue to extend His hand to those who sincerely ask for forgiveness and turn away from their sins.
So my message to Tonex and all others is this:
I don’t know what you’ve done, nor is that my concern! But if you sincerely love God, then you will love your neighbor ABOVE yourself, so this obviously starts with loving yourself, because if you don’t know how to love yourself than you won’t know how to love your neighbor more! Since you have been graced with the mantle to minister to your neighbor and lead your neighbor to Christ, then you need to speak to your struggle and let it KNOW that it’s no longer about you and him (him=struggle), it’s about the neighbor whom you are trying to reach! I love you in the LORD. Please, Please Please continue to fight the GOOD fight!
At the end of the day many are called and few are chosen so if you are amongst the chose called to do a work for the Lord might enable to do what you do cos He gave you the gift and will not take it back however the Bible says don’t let your liberty be an occasion for the flesh.Believing in Jesus justifies us to come to God in the righteousness of Jesus however sanctification is the work that we have to do, that what is in our life that is contrary to the word of God we have to work with Him to root it out.In spite of how he may be blessed to make music his spirit is not going to purely from God and what you may think is the anointing of god could be something else.Don’t forget, even demons can speak in tongues so what look like spiritual gifts from God can be from other sources. The Bible teaches people who practice immorality we should avoid them , not even eat with them, it’s not a judgemental thing or a cutting off but one of the reasons why so many in the Body of Christ are so weak is cos of all the unclean hands that have been laid on us.I believe in transference of spirit and if this man or any other is wilfully living in any sin and they have no desire to overcome it then they should be avoided.
