One of the brightest names in theater and musical circles, Tamela Mann’s time has come.
The woman known and loved by millions as Cora in Tyler Perry’s various plays such as “Meet the Browns“, “Madea’s Class Reunion” and “Madea’s Family Reunion” is also a fantastic singer.
She proves that on her first live cd/dvd recording, Tamela Mann …The Live Experience (TillyMann Music Group).
Produced by Grammy-nominated producer, Myron Butler, the project packs incredible soul and passion. It was recorded at the state-of-the-art Calvary Church in Irving, TX with a five camera shoot in ront of a couple of thousand screaming fans. She performed all of the songs from her debut CD plus a handful of new tracks. Myron Butler and Levi provided background vocal accompaniment for the recording. Tamela Mann’s hilarious husband, David Mann, emceed the evening and sang a song as well.
The Dallas – Ft. Worth native got her start in Kirk Franklin & the Family (Tamela Mann sang on Kirk Franklin’s pop smash “Lean on Me” and the seasonal classic “Now Behold the Lamb“) in the early 1990s. Tamela Mann was also featured in the recent box office smash movie “The Diary of a Mad Black Woman” which grossed over $22 million in March 2005.
Thanks to the success of the Cora & Mr. Brown characters , Tyler Perry has now produced a new TV sitcom, “Meet the Browns” that will debut this summer. The Mann’s will also soon star in a “Meet the Browns” motion picture that Tyler Perry is producing . Tamela Mann is Currently touring in Tyler Perry’s play, “What’s Done in the Dark.“
