TYLER PERRY HAS ANOTHER BOX OFFIC HIT WITH “WHY DID I GET MARRIED?”:
Tyler Perry is back with another great movie “Why Did I Get Married?”. This movie hit the cinemas on 12th October and has looks set to be another Box Office hit.
Tyler Perry’s success at the box office is expected. The Atlanta-based filmmaker’s previous hit movies include Diary of a Mad Black Woman, which debuted at $21.9 million and Madea’s Family Reunion and Daddy’s Little Girls, which debuted at $30 million and $13.1 million, respectively.
Tyler Perry’s latest film “Why Did I Get Married?“, is having the same success as his previous releases but with one important difference: the faith-based film, which earned over $21 million in its opening weekend, landed in the #1 spot despite heavy competition from movies featuring A-list Hollywood actors - We Own The Night (Mark Wahlberg), Michael Clayton (George Clooney) and Elizabeth: The Golden Age (Cate Blanchett).
In it’s 2nd weekend the film slipped to #2 spot but still took in an estimated $12.1 million.
Why Did I Get Married? focuses on four married couples who gather in the snowtop mountains of Colorado for their annual seven-day retreat. The talented cast includes Janet Jackson, Malik Yoba, Jill Scott, Sharon Leal, Tasha Smith, Michael Jai White, Denise Boutte and Lamann Rucker.
To promote the film, Tyler Perry’s marketing strategy included a grassroots approach. He provided screening trailers for African American churches and took time out to visit several large churches, including predominantly white mega-churches.
Lionsgate, the film’s distributor, is considering taking the film abroad. If Lionsgate does, it will be Tyler Perry’s first international release.
As the church body, we must support our own. We someone like Tyler Perry works this hard to make Faith-Based films for us and our children, we need to help lift him up. These films will help us and our children in these last day, to focus on a positive message, in Tyler Perry’s films. This is what we need to be supporting and pushing for as Christian. As Tyler Perry’s film focus on the problems we face in our every day lives.
So please lets all get to the cinemas and when its on DVD, let us all purchase one for ourselves and one for a friend. This is the kind of positive message the world need.
