BISHOP THOMAS WEEKS III SPEAKS EXCLUSIVELY TO BET NEWS ABOUT HIS FAILED MARRIAGE TO THE PROPHETESS JUANITA BYNUM

For the past few months, the prophetess Juanita Bynum has controlled the airwaves and media outlets in a wave of publicity from the Tom Joyner Show, Good Morning America and back-to-back issues of Essence Magazine about the alleged abuse she suffered at the hands of her husband, Bishop Thomas Weeks III. Now, Bishop Thomas Weeks III tells his side of the story in an exclusive interview with BET News. THE BISHOP SPEAKS premieres Sunday, January 20 at 11:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. ET/PT.

Bishop Thomas Weeks III emotionally refutes Juanita Bynum’s allegations of domestic violence and gives viewers an inside glimpse of a marriage already in turmoil before the night he allegedly beat her in an Atlanta hotel parking lot. Painting a dark picture of Juanita Bynum viewers wouldn’t recognize from her famous “No More Sheets” sermon, the Bishop candidly defends his innocence and argues that he was the one who was abused by Juanita Bynum. He contends that this entire ordeal is a conspiracy to further her career to become the “next Oprah Winfrey.” Also, in a stirring and poignant moment in the special, Bishop Thomas Weeks III delivers a message to Juanita Bynum about healing and picking up the pieces of their relationship and his hope that she finds God again.

From the Special:

When asked about allegations of domestic abuse, Bishop Weeks said, “I’m telling you that whoever made this happen set me up to destroy me… Juanita does not ever want to be unmarried and see me with somebody else…She would be absolutely tormented to see another woman ever be married to me. Twenty seven years of chalked up charges would put me in jail then she wouldn’t have to worry about it.”

Another example Bishop Weeks shared regarding the domestic abuse he endured was, “She grabbed the tie and said, ‘You’re gonna treat me like how I want you to treat me. And I’m going to be your wife.’ And tears started coming down my face…And then when I didn’t respond to her she jumped back on my lap and grabbed my tie and said, ‘Do I need to choke you again?’”

I saw the interview for the first time BET this morning. I was elated to here his side of the story. I do not think he waited to tell his story because he needed to make something up. I know he has a case pending and can’t say a lot of things at this time. I hope that a jury will see the truth.

I do not dislike Juanita Bynum, however for some years now something has not set right with me with her. I was unable to take her side on this one and I am a woman speaks like her with confidence and I’m not taking more than one beating like that. She does not appear to be a woman who would take too many licks and not tell someone. Bishop Weeks reminds me of my husband in that he would try to do whatever he could to satisfy and keep his marriage. If that is the case it would take a lot for him to even do what he is accused of. I could be wrong but my spirit says no.

I’m keeping them both in prayer.

Iam glad the bishop spoke out so i can hear some more of the story. Some how i do not sense that he is lying at all. What he has said it makes sense. Now that i have heard from both sides. I feel juanita should go home, and they should continue with there marriage. Both parties need to forgive, and put all the cards on the table. start all over again. they need to spend more one on one time with each other and less in the public.
