Still, the show does sound almost like an affiliate ad for a product. I hope it is actually done in a respectful manner.

Personally, and that’s all I really know is true, I have had the most meaningful experiences with God when I was “down and out”.  Only when I was at the end of myself, did God really have room to “come into” my life.  He came in the words and ideas of Jesus Christ of the Western Bible because that’s how I understood God.  So, my experience with Jesus far outweighs my “understanding” of Jesus. 

Now I have had what I thought was an understanding of Jesus, but it was learned from a book or a teaching tape or a web site, not from Jesus Himself.  Only in those times of quiet and solitude where I felt and “experienced” His presence and guidance can I speak with authority.  It is these experiences that raised some basic questions about my “knowledge” of Christ.

These questions were the basic questions on which there have been countless books written, sermons presented and talk shows broadcast. 
Questions like:
Is war bad? 
Is the death penalty considered killing? 
Why didn’t Jesus heal everyone?
Why aren’t I able to heal anyone?
Why do I feel so alone with all of these people around me?

You know, the basic questions of life.  I finally realized the most important “revelation” in my life: I don’t have to know the answers, I only have to know how to live life as Jesus did.

I can’t know everything Jesus knew, I can’t BE Jesus, so how do I live my life asking the proverbial “What Would Jesus Do”?  I have found, the only way to live AS Jesus, is to know God.  You know — I only can do what my Father speaks.  I can know God to some extent by observing mankind, and by reading “about” God, but the true, One and Only God in my life can only be known by “relationship”.  I must spend time with Him.  Not books, not friends, not websites, not my spouse…  All of those things are important and valuable in life, but they don’t replace my relationship with God.
 
So, when I read A Course in Miracles, Conversations with God, or any other book or article, I read to see if God is prompting any new ideas or, more properly worded, illuminating any “old” ideas for me for now.  If there are things I don’t understand or don’t think are for me right now, I go to the next thing.  Just about any of the quotes you have used in referring to these writing labeled “new age” can be put into a sermon backed by the Bible and probably supported by your creed and bi-laws and be perfectly true.  So I would ask: How did the original writer intend these statements to be interpreted?

If we are going to study the bible with such passion because it’s about our God and then about our Lord and Savior, why can’t we do the same with present day “truth seekers” comments.  For instance, when someone says to look within for God, to be Jesus to someone in need, is that “new age”?  I would say it depends greatly on that person’s understanding of Jesus. 

Are they a Christian?
Do they love Jesus?
Do they believe in the Bible?
Or, are they talking about Jesus the friend of Jose down the street?
Or, are they talking about Jesus, the friend of Buddha?

Or, does it even matter?  Doesn’t what matters lie in the heart of that person and the consequences of there actions?  By BEING Jesus did they feed the hungry, stop and argument and bring peace, calm the innocent children in an emergency?  People don’t do those kind of things very long unless they are coming from their heart, unless they are being who they are–someone in a relationship with Jesus, someone who KNOWS God.

I would just ask that people look at what people are doing for God, not what they might be doing against God.  If something in Oprah’s show offends you, turn it off–or better yet, make a better show so we won’t have to watch it either.  Seriously, if we provided more interesting shows, more “relevant” shows, things that made a difference in peoples lives–people would watch us instead of Oprah.  Tyler Perry being a great example.  So, lets see what Oprah has done that has meaning and love in it.  After all, who can know a persons heart but God.

Oprah has gone beyond the realm of hubris and into the path of having just enough money and mental illness to be dangerous. She’s boring and pathetic in way she talks down to the “masses” “Are YA’LL gettin this!??!!” as if everyone except Oprah is enlightened and it’s everyone else who she must save from themselves.

Media billionaire liar, heal thyself. And please retire. You’ve done enough damage for one life time to this country.

At least when I die, and leave this earth, I won’t be left behind, because I will see my Jesus, Lord and Savior face to face in the Kingdom of Heaven…I can only guess where Oprah will be going when she dies….

One last thing…this “Big Give” show is a bunch of hoo-ha, Oprah isn’t giving anything to anyone, all the SPONSORS ARE! If anyone forgot the horrendous problems when she so called “gave” (which she didn’t Chevrolet did), those “FREE” cars to, each one of those people had to pay up to $6,000 in TAXES!

Oprah if you are reading this, I don’t hate you, but your actions and statements I despise, you are a hypocrite, after saying “Amen! Amen!” after the 2nd Generation of Osmonds Brothers sang to honor their grandfather whom they loved so very much you said you would pray for them and their family. Then turn around and say, “There is no God, and there is no sin” is just being a hypocrite…and your good friend Barbara Mandrell, I wonder what she would say to all this…by the way I know her personally, not as well as you obviously, but met her at the least a dozen times…Barbara is a devout Christian woman who loves God, and has Jesus in her life and heart, i’m sure you have broken her heart by your actions and words.

My respect for you is all gone since the day I heard about this.
