Los Angeles, California – Some of the most highly acclaimed and best loved gospel and R&B artists raise their voices in joyful tribute as CELEBRATION OF GOSPEL: SPIRIT IN SONG, BET’s eighth annual celebration of inspirational music and the #1 religious/gospel telecast, comes to DVD on April 29, 2008 from BET Home Entertainment and Paramount Home Entertainment. Grammy Award® winners Kirk Franklin, Patti LaBelle, John Legend, Pastor Shirley Caesar, Dr. Bobby Jones and more come together on one stage for a memorable evening of special musical performances and exclusive salutes to gospel’s all time greatest stars. The CELEBRATION OF GOSPEL: SPIRIT IN SONG DVD includes a behind-the-scenes featurette and words of wisdom from Pastor Shirley Caesar.

CELEBRATION OF GOSPEL: SPIRIT IN SONG is a rousing evening of foot-stomping, hand-clapping musical performances, with guest appearances by legendary artists from both the inspirational and secular worlds. Some of the world’s most talented gospel artists as well as R&B greats with deep roots in the spiritual world take the stage for two hours of soaring music.

This year’s guest performers, who collectively have won more than two dozen Grammy Awards and scores of other honors between them, include Kirk Franklin, host of BET’s newest gospel program, “Sunday Best;” singer, actress, television personality, bestselling author and Dove Award® nominee Patti LaBelle; television and radio star Dr. Bobby Jones; as well as Dove Award nominee J. Moss, John Legend and Pastor Shirley Caesar. CELEBRATION OF GOSPEL: SPIRIT IN SONG also features moving performances by Crystal Aiken and the four runners up of “Sunday Best,” the network’s new launching pad for the brightest young talents in gospel music.
