Yolanda Adams, Shirley Caesar, Queen LaTifah & Others to Perform For AARP:

Yolanda Adams , Queen Latifah , Patti Austin , Ann Nesby and granddaughter Paris Bennett (from American Idol ), Shirley Caesar , Chaka Khan and CeCe Winans will perform at AARP’s 50th anniversary show on June 21, 2008 at the Phillips Arena in Atlanta . Actress /Choreographer Debbie Allen will direct the show.

Yolanda Adams says she was impressed by how her grandmother and mom benefited from receiving retirement funds and health insurance from AARP .

"Everything was so up to date," she told The Associated Press . "With all these changes over the last 10 years with Medicare , they were given a fair shot to know what was going on in taking care of their matters."

Performers of the event will receive honorary membership - even youngsters like 11 year-old Jamia Simone Nash (a former American Idol ), who will also perform and Paris Bennett , who is 19 .

"They’re connecting young people with senior citizens," Ann Nesby said . "It’ll be great for Paris (Bennett ) to see what they do for people my age from all across the board."

The AARPs’ anniversary celebration will also include a classic rock and jazz tour, which will venture to 10 to 15 cities this year. (source: Macon.com )
