Crystal Aikin, winner of Black Entertainment Television’s “Sunday Best” competion is gearing up for her forthcoming Zomba Gospel release. The self-titled “Crystal Aikin” will be in stores now!
The debut is produced by PAJAM (J Moss, 21:03, Dorinda Clark-Cole), Dre & Vidal (Alicia Keys, Usher) and Asaph A. Ward (Dorinda Clark-Cole, Kim Burrell), with a special guest appearance by CCM recording artist Natalie Grant. The CD is a unique combination of Contemporary Gospel sprinkled with a little Jazz and Rock.
“It’s a potpourri of musical sounds and we’ve got something on it for everyone. I couldn’t help but make sure that a variety of music was captured on my album.,” Crystal Aikin says.
The CD has 10 moving songs that speak of faith and hope.
“I am a worship conductor and singing for me has so much purpose,” says Aikin. “I don’t play around with it. We all have gifts and talents. Sometimes we take them places we shouldn’t. But for me, it is so important to honor my gift and to use it wisely. I believe that God has put a spiritual anointing on my voice to awaken the spiritually asleep and for deliverance and healing.”
The first single, “I Desire More,” is produced by Asaph A. Ward. A powerful ballad that urges a complete surrender to God, Crystal Aikin passionately sings: “Here I am on bended knees, with outstretched arms, crying Lord, not my will but your will; less of me and more of you.”
Also included on the album is the resonating “What If” a thought stirring song of what if God said no to miracles and blessings; while the Jazz-inspired “Lord You Reign Forever” and “Turn To Him” are impassioned reminders to trust God and believe in the power of prayer. The energetic “He’s So Worthy” is a favorite of Crystal Aikin, who calls the song a “Gospel joint,” adding, “He’s worthy of all the praise and all the glory. It provokes you, no matter what you might be feeling at that moment; you’re like ‘Umph! He’s so worthy!’”
Crystal Aikin has powerful vocals that compliment her bubbly personality. She delivers a fresh sound to Gospel music.
“My desire for my album is that people will be inspired to bless God and worship God. I want them to get the Crystal artistry, but have the God experience,” she said.
