BET’S ‘SUNDAY BEST’ RETURNED FOR ITS SECOND SEASON: On Sunday, March 8, 2009 at 9:00 p.m. the 10-week.

During last season’s live finale, 1.7 million viewers tuned in to the excitement as Crystal Aikin, a nurse from Tacoma, Washington, won BET’s first-ever gospel singing competition and took home a national recording contract, a brand new vehicle, a prize package for her community and the title of Sunday Best.

Back by popular demand, Sunday Best returned for its second season on Sunday at 9:00 p.m. Hosted by Kirk Franklin and judges Erica and Tina Campbell of Mary Mary and BeBe Winans who are all back together to find America’s next great Gospel singer.

Making stops in Atlanta, Chicago, and our nation’s capital, Washington, D.C., Sunday Best kicked off the season premiere with a special episode dedicated to the inspiring, hilarious and even sometimes challenging audition process.

“The level of talent for the second season is going to show the world what we’ve been saying since the beginning of the series only on Sunday Best will you find true, honest talent that hasn’t been compromised,” said returning host Franklin.

Season two of Sunday Best will tape in its new home of Atlanta at Turner Studios. Each week during the hour-long competition, viewers will be treated to musical performances from the remaining Sunday Best hopefuls along with candid feedback from the all-star team of judges and surprise visits from an array of celebrity guests.

“We’re so excited about this season! The level of talent we saw was so amazing; which made it really hard to say no to some folks,” said Erica and Tina Campbell of Mary Mary. “The viewing audience will be blessed, entertained and uplifted for sure!”

Sunday Best is executive produced by D’Angela Proctor Steed and Nia T. Hill of Strange Fruit Films, Kirk Franklin, Mary Mary, BeBe Winans as well as Brian Gadinsky and Arnold M. Preston of The G Group, and co-executive produced by Marilyn Gill.

The winner of Sunday Best will receive a 2009 Lincoln MKS as part of the grand prize package.

I am still trying to understand why the woman with the number 7578  didn’t get pick.  I am not a judge or anything but  a group of my sisters and friends, look at your show and we’re still wondering why she didn’t get pick, because her voice is great and we thought that’s basically  what  you are judging.

  4. kassie says:

I am sorry but I was talking about with no.7578 from the DC area.

@12;30 airing on BET Fred Hammond opened the half hour show with a song, that brought me to Tears , I don’t know why it touched me so. I explained to my Very Religious mother (who attends New Hope Full Gospell in ABQ, NM) I coyuldnt explain why such a song I couldn’t remember made meFEEL Christ and His strength in me. Then she told me a horrific thing to make me very sad. Fred was invited to this church, but the Pastor didnt have the $5000., only $3,500, so Donny McClurken came instead(my personal Fav) but, this is why I don’t go to church as often as I like . the Buracratic Politics-a nice way of saying it. I wish him well and hoepfully I will be in town on a day he does come to New Hope , I truelly have been sturggling with Divorce , helplessnes ,living at my mothers again, and being true to myself. That song…… sing it to me, tell me what it is. It made me FEEL again, thank you , God Bless, and think about taking alittle every now and again, for the small churches, Please dear God, Bless New Hope with One quick visit. Daphne(Native Tucsonan, in ABQ.)
