Lifestyles of the Rich and Churchy? I was the transportation coordinator several years back for the late Bishop G. E. Patterson in the late 90’s and early in this decade.
During that time it was my responsibility to coordinate the safe arrival of Bishop Patterson’s guests.
Whether these were household names, or just those who were those that were endeared to Bishop Patterson that few others knew, I can say that I have met most of the big names on the Christian Circuit during this time.
Bishop G. E. Patterson was such a good man that he spent hours and many dollars to make sure that his guests were treated with respect and dignity.
I have shared the car with most of the notable names in ministry, and I did it for a word that is seldom used in Christiandom. I did it for free!
I did well enough in the car business at that time that I didn’t need to solicit a salary from my pastor. These experiences helped me as a preacher because to see that those whose names were up in lights are just people like we are. This helped me many times because I said if he can do it
so can I. I found out that many of them had issues just like the rest of us. Can you imagine my surprise that one of the biggest names in Christiandom, stutters greatly in regular conversation, but speaks like a oratorical whiz in the pulpit? It was definitely sobering and encouraging to see that these people where not those who where from another planet.
Well all of that was not the purpose of my post. I will now drop off the mail that I intended to leave initially.

You should spend more energy talking to young males about living a saved, respecting themselves and women, abstinence, being faithful to their wives, and providing for their families.
My mother was married to a BB minister that had a position in the church for years. Many of them cheat on their wives and cause emotional and economic hardship on the family. Many of the ministers are just as whorish as the men in the streets! Some of these ministers are on the DL. I have yet to understand why they are ordained. HIV &AIDS needs to be discussed at BB regularly because some me seem to not care who they are infecting. This is insane!
Many of the minsters put on a front in front of everybody at church while they are cheating with women they work with and go to church with (like my mother’s ex). I know this for a fact! Because women do tell! Remember someone is always watching you when you cheat. This lowers a man’s credibility as a minister.
To focus on singing, song writers, novels by well known preachers, and reminisce about the good old BB days is pointless. Focus on HIV, Baby mamas, the jail system, careers choices, life choices, recognizing people who talk advantage of you!
why is this article itled the lifestyes of the rich and churchy? there are some rich people who are actually christians. i dont believe bishop patterson was so richy. i mean he dressed nice but that does not mean he was all so rich. he was well off but Rich? i dont think so. i loved the late great bishop he was a true man of god he was not about money or material things.
