Canton Jones’ “Kingdom Business” is among this year’s Dove Awards nominees. The album is nominated in the Urban Album of the Year category along with projects by Kierra Sheard, Kirk Franklin, Damita, and Deitrick Haddon. This is Canton Jones’ first Dove Awards nomination.
“It’s a tremendous honor to be nominated for this award and to be in such wonderful company,” Jones said. “It has always been my desire to reach as many people as possible through my music and it is definitely honors like this, along with consistent hard work, that make that an even greater possibility.”
With three albums (“20 Years, 3 Months, 12 Days,” “Love Jones,” and “The Password: Access Granted”); a Grammy nomination; a Stellar Awards nomination, and three Gospel Choice Awards to his credit, Jones says “Kingdom Business,” released by Arrow Records on February 5th, is his most creative offering to date.
He is currently enjoying the success of his new single, “My Day,” as well as his previous release, “G-O-D,” which continues to attract throngs of listeners and buyers on iTunes.
His year the “Dove Awards” will air live on the Gospel Music Channel at 8pm Eastern. For more info visit: www.doveawards.com/doveawards/.

And he fully deserves the award! I love his music, it’s so beautiful. Too bad mainstream music tv and radio stations seem to be ignoring gospel music in favor of gangsta rap. I just can’t understand how something sounding so bad and glorifying violence can win over something as beautiful ad Canton’s music…
Great album by Canton and it’s nice to see it get the kind of coverage and recognition it deserves. I’ll have t owait and see how it does in the awards.
I must say, while Mr. Jones is of the younger generation, I am quite pleased with many of the songs from this CD. I’m espcially pleased that my husband has grown fond of this young man especially when we watched him perform on TBN. What a performance! He’s right, “Today is going to be a good day, because it’s MY DAY”! and Nobody Care! Oh what songs. Love them. I pray he gets the recognition is deserving of!
