A nation-wide talent show winner is ready to prove her win was not just a fluke. Melinda Watts, the season three winner of Gospel Music Channel’s popular reality talent search series, Gospel Dream, is set to release her debut album July 28th.
“I’ve always had a love of music and I have been singing in church my whole life,” Melinda Watts explained. “God’s grace brought me here. A lot of faith in God and remembering that it’s okay to dream even when you feel you can’t.”
Born in New Jersey and hailing from Sacramento, CA, Melinda Watts began singing at the age of six. Her powerhouse vocals and warm bravado captured the hearts of millions of fans, when she won the gospel reality talent showcase.
Entitled “People Get Ready,” the CD was produced with slick grooves and hopeful lyrics. It features dance friendly tracks and traditional worship songs to prove why Melinda Watts was the favorite of the judges.
Melinda Watts is set for her promotional for the CD with stops in New York, Atlanta, Chicago and Philadelphia. She also will tape an upcoming episode of BET’s “LIFT EVERY VOICE,” and will be a part of the Gospel Music Channel’s Gospel Dream 2009 season set to start airing in June. The first single “So Good,” already is getting lots of air play at Gospel radio stations.
When she isn’t singing, Melinda Watts works with her nonprofit organizations Project Sunday and Heaven’s House to address the great need for mentoring and ministering to young women in her community.
Melinda Watts is managed by Mitchell Solarek of Maximum Artist Management.
