Doobie Powell, who is a singer, songwriter, musician, and producer, is a unique and gifted talent drawing inspiration for his music from an artistic family lineage and from an amazing journey through life. He’s not known for patterning himself after any other artist but known for interpreting gospel music into an experience that is captivating and engages the soul. The Time Is Now is a story board of stages that God has brought the noted drummer through.

The Time Is Now illustrates Doobie’s ability and growth of his commitment to Christ. In his earlier years, Doobie was centered on his own talent. Now, his relationship with God is the center. This project is growth in Him (Christ) which has stimulated growth in Powell’s music. Doobie reflects that he was totally in another place when he did the first CD’s. From the death of this first wife to having his home burglarized and recording studio completely wiped out, he grieved, coped, survived and achieved. His life has changed drastically since his first project and now he has much to say.

This project was to happen a long time ago, but in kairos time, it has come to pass. “This project symbolizes the time that God has ordained for me to come out to the world,” Doobie Powell emphasizes. “The Time is Now is another confirmation to me that everything happens in Gods timing.”

This self labeled maverick is artistically inimitable and doesn’t desire to sound like or pattern himself after any other artist. “I go with God and I go with me. I don’t go with what the fads are or what flavor of the month it is,” he states. “A lot of artists are conforming to what the industry says is gospel and Christian, I’m into doing what I love to do and what God has given me to do.”
