Witness, the Stellar award winning supergroup, will make their long awaited return with a reunion CD, according to Gospelflava.com.
The Witness reunion project will be a live recording scheduled for fall 2010 and will feature all the original group members including Lisa Page Brooks, Leah Jones, Lou Stewart and Diane Brooks.
The CD will be released on Sophar Music, the new label spearheaded by famed writer and producer Pastor Michael Brooks.
Witness began their musical career in 1986 under the direction of Witness’ founder, writer and producer Pastor Michael A. Brooks also co-founder of gospel group Commissioned responsible for such Commissioned hits as “Love Isn’t Love”, “Strange Land”, “I’m Going On”, “So Good To Know”, “Go Tell Somebody” and many more.
Witness went on to record eight albums, which garnered radio play-list favorite mainstay songs “Standard”, “Song In The Night”, “Get In The Way”, “Old Landmark”, and “Resting In Him” amongst others. This led to the group being recognized with a 1991 Grammy nomination for best Group/Duo Contemporary, a 1991 and 1993 GMWA Excellence award for Best Group and a 1993 Stellar Award for Best Performance Group/Duo and numerous Dove awards nominations.
Witness features the vocal talents of Laeh Jones, LouAnn Stewart, Natasha Page and the signature voice of Witness “Lisa Page Brooks” who embarked on a solo career in 1997 with the release of her debut solo effort “More Than You’ll Ever Know”. From that album Brooks received, a 1997 Dove award nomination for best new artist as well as her 1997 Stellar nomination in the same category. Her self-titled 2001 release and debut on Air Gospel featured the radio hit “Fully Persuaded”
Michael A. Brooks also notes: “Witness is one of those groups that has a winning formula. We will not to turn them into something they are not; we will just do a 2003 version of what worked for us all the time. I feel the market place is such now that we can really do what we always wanted to do without worrying about being this or to that. They’ve got the goods to appeal to the masses”
