Jonathan Nelson & Purpose Album Review “Better Days”:
Integrity Music artist Jonathan Nelson & Purpose have done it again! The new album “Better Days” is their best album to date. The entire album will bless you and minister to your spirit.
Better Days explores traditional and contemporary gospel worship on “Called to Be,” “I Am Your Song,” the title track “Better Days“, and more. Better Days illustrates Jonanthan Nelson and Purpose’s dynamic connection to their audiences, no matter what the mood dictates. The Caribbean- flavored “Cry Holy” and the downright funky “Praise Saved My Life” deliver pure joy and a bit of fun to call and response praising. For the gospel traditionalists, Jonathan and his brother Jason Nelson provide a fantastic tribute to their ill father, Bishop James D. Nelson, Sr. on “Another Way.” The foot-stomping closing track features Karen Clark Sheard’s daughter, Kierra Sheard, injecting her amazing vocals on track “Performance.”
10 Performance (featuring Kierra Sheard)
Better Days is special because of Purpose’s vocal proficiency and quality in handling the slower moments such as “I Am Your Song” and Jonathan Nelson’s seamless ability in blending unfamiliar material (“Smile“) with the standards (“Better Is One Day“). With all these remarkable moments and the dependable vocal presentations by Jonathan Nelson and Purpose album Better Days is one of the best contemporary urban praise and worship projects in this year 2010.
