Bishop Eddie Long Congregation Is Shrinking Due To Scandals

Fox 5 in Atlanta reported Bishop Eddie Long is laying off staff and cutting salaries of essential staff members. Bishop Eddie Long released a statement saying the cuts are due to the down turn in the economy, but sources within the congregations say attendance has bottomed due to all the scandals that have plagued New Birth Missionary Church.
According to a spokesperson from the Preacher Bureau of Investigation (PBI) who attended New Birth’s most recent service, the once filled to capacity balcony section of the church was pretty much empty!
“There is no doubt that all of the scandals have taken a toll on this once thriving congregation, there are now empty seats throughout the sanctuary. This lesson should go out to all Pastors who feel that they can exploit their members and get away with it because God knows their heart. The members of these congregations are no longer tolerating a lack of integrity in the pulpit.”
According to Dale Russell of Fox 5 in Atlanta - Bishop Eddie Long’s $1 million love offering has gone into the general operational budget for 2011.
“When Bishop Eddie Long spoke at his New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in the past, his 10,000-member congregation was often packed to the rafters and financial contributions flowed freely. But church sources say attendance is down, now forcing the church to make dramatic cutbacks.
The I-Team was first to tell you how Jamal Parris and three other young men filed a sexual misconduct suit against Bishop Long and his New Birth Missionary Baptist church. In all four of the law suits, Bishop Long denied any sexual activity.”
The announcement that Bishop Eddie Long and New Birth is making major cuts in staff comes on the heels of a donations letter sent to the members of Crenshaw Christian Center by Frederick K. C. Price also stating that their ministry donations are down $4 million from last year’s financials.
The PBI says Pastors will try to blame the drop in donations on the economy rather than face the fact that the members are no longer willing to finance their extravagant lifestyles and purchases.

As Christians we are commanded not to judge, but to discern between good and evil. Bishop Eddie Long along with other ministers, whether a small or large congregation should step down from authority and make every attempt to get themselves back in line with God. I’ve been in small churches and catholic churches where those in authority have preyed on children and low-self-esteem adults. If the ministers have faith as they preach, then God will restore them, not uphold them in the same sinful situation. People need to stop using these situations as an excuse to forgo God’s commandment to come together and worship. There are many good ministers in large churches and small churches. Per the Scriptures there were so many worshippers you could not count them. Mega churches have their place and New Birth Missionary Baptist Church has done Many Great works for so many people. Bishop Eddie Long should humble himself and let God continue to use this body of christ like people. There are no perfect churches, but these people are striving to help thy neighbor and thy brother, the elderly and the children. My prayers are with the congregation and those whose lives have been touched. For those messages that touched your heart they are real. Don’t be discouraged, but know thy work for thyself rightly dividing the word of truth(2nd Timothy 2:15) and also How shall thy hear In hearing the minister speaker the hearts are touched(Roman 10:14) Through the ministers word the congregation is touched -spirit imparted (Acts10:44) but I encourage all to read the entire Chapter, not just one verse. May all christians know the work.

There are those that want much. God said to whom much is given, much is required. You must press toward the mark for the prize of the High Calling Of GOD in Christ Jesus our Lord. Not for the purchase of higher priced cars and homes and clothes and shoes. God said not to be begging bread. In other words, man cannot serve God and money. Don’t look to preach God’s word to get material gain. Preach to seek and save the lost and compel them to come to the Lord. Extravagant lifestyles are gained by your own efforts. Not by scamming on those that are only generous because they have to hear you whine about giving it all. They give out of the abundance of their heart. Not because you tell them how much to give. Let GOD guide the hearts. Don’t keep asking for certain amounts of money. That’s lobbying or auctioning off God’s Word like it’s some commodity. That’s a dangerous thing to do. Don’t fall into the hands of an angry GOD! You’d better be careful. Don’t play with GOD like that! He’s watching you and He knows you and what you’re capable of. And He sees everything you’re trying to do. The Lord tries your reins to see just where you’ll go with His message. Go where He leads and not where you think you should. Jonah went astray and wound up trapped with no way out for 3 days. He wanted to ignore God and go his own way. God caught him. God caught you, too. So, repent and do the right thing now. God’s got it all in control. He’ll make it right for you when you look to Him for all you need. GOD supplies your needs, gives you the desires of your heart and directs your path. That’s GOD’s job, not your congregation’s. And scandals shouldn’t even be in the church, period! But God will fix that too! nothing need even be said about it! God is the ultimate Judge and Authority in that situation.
Another thing. To all of you wanting to point the finger. God says, Judge not, condemn not and forgive. The congregation and any other Christian who LIVES by the Word of GOD should be praying for this man. He got weak in the faith, got led astray, or whatever the weakness was. You as the body of Christ should be holding him up in prayer and not criticizing him and putting all his faulty mess out there for the public to insult and make dirty to themselves. You should be restoring him in the spirit of meekness. But right now, you’re being tempted with exploiting his errors and making them what they didn’t have to be in the public’s eyes. The public here being everyone finding fault or taking his God-given anointing for granted. God said “touch not mine anointed, and do my prophet no harm”. Yet I see nothing but harmful words here. Let’s be holy about all this. Satan is killing, stealing and destroying this because he’s being allowed to! Let’s kick him to the curb here! And to the Pastor, Bishop Eddie Long, You are called to be a minister. Walk in it! Repent and go your way and sin no more! Be strong and put on the whole armor of God! WALK IN THE SPIRIT!

Eddie Long knows what he did or did not do but if I had a son in his church I would not let my boy get close to Bishop not judging but protecting my son would be number one. I just turned the channel whenever he came on the television and this was long before any accusations.
I have a serious check in my Spirit about seven out of ten preachers that appear regularly on Christian programming and it causes me to turn off my Television, half have been involved in scandals after I discerned something was out of order.

Christians Oct 8 2011 was a Jewish High Holy Day called Yom Kippur which means The Day of Atonement. In the Old Covenant God gave the Nation of Israel seven Holy Days to celebrate and to break any one of them resulted in breaking Covenant with God, yet I don’t know of any Christian church that celebrates these days yet they scare people half to death for breaking the Tithe law. Most Christians are not even keeping the Sabbath Holy. Devout Jews who practice Judaism attend Synagogues on Saturday not Sunday, like the majority of Christians.
Sabbath rest starts Frid. as soon as the sun goes down until Saturday at sundown. Jews light candles and stop all activity. In the Old Testament under the Old Covenant Jews were stoned to death for breaking the Sabbath and eating pork or breaking most of the 613 laws unless they atoned for their sins with an animal sacrifice.
FYI! There was a total of 613 Commandments to keep to be in Covenant with God under the Old Covenant. Type in 613 Commandments and it list them, or you can read Leviticus & Deuteronomy and count them all (stop being lazy)!
I never believed what any Preacher says if it conflicts with the WORD. I was turned off by Preachers like Long and Dollar a long time ago when I heard them use scare tactics and the Malachi 3:8-9 curse to enforce Christian Tithing.
Galatians 3:13 declares “Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law by being made a curse for us on the tree (cross), verse 14 said we got the blessings of Abraham by faith in Jesus and the promise of the Spirit.
Nowhere does it say we got the blessings of Abraham by paying tithes. Abraham gave a tithe of all on the spoils of war one time and it was not a command by God for the promise of blessings, the promise was given to him by faith because he believed God and it was credited to him as righteousness Romans 4:4 & Galatians 3:6
It is shocking how many of the Lord’s people have not read Galatians which deals with the Old Covenant Law-keeping vs New Covenant Grace! If you have trouble reading it then get a good study bible, or online commentary on Galatians. Nothing has changed in 2,000 yrs. when Paul rebuked the Legalist of his day for trying to make the early Gentile church go backward to the law, instead of forward to the Cross which is why we have God’s free gift of Grace. Grace means unmerited favor. God gave you favor and Grace the moment he saved and redeemed you, so wake up!!!
I’ve only heard one Pastor on Christian programming focus on Grace. His name is Pastor Joseph Prince. Most of the rest of the teaching that I’ve heard is on Prosperity and seed sowing to keep the cash flowing in. Jesus said the seed is the word of God in Luke 8:11.
Why can’t they just tell you to pray in Jesus name for free and give cheerfully under the leading of the Holy Spirit out of love as your act of worship? 2nd Corinthians 9:7 is an instruction on voluntary giving.
If Jesus saved you he gave you his daily grace and favor at that very moment.
Jesus is the fulfillment and summation of the law! No one could keep the law because fallen man has a sin nature, only Jesus the sinless spotless Lamb fulfilled the law, without breaking a single one.
Do you people even realize that the only law they are focusing on is the tithe law? What about the other 612 like not eating pork, keeping the Sabbath which starts Friday night till Saturday night, what about the circumcision of 8 day old male infants (by a Priest), how about keeping the Old Covenant Jewish High Holy Days like the Day of Atonement which was this past Oct, 8, 2011 this year. Not one Gentile (non-Jewish) Church that I know of even recognizes this Holy Day, yet it was also an Old Covenant commandment which unlike tithe paying could get you stoned for breaking it.
The Old Covenant Jews had laws to keep to be in covenant with God around the clock. Most of you can’t even name but ten at best but if you goggle the words 613 commandments or 613 Mosaic laws you can see them displayed or you can read them all in Leviticus.
Jesus did not comment the tithe paying Pharisees for tithing food and spices (which is what tithe were paid in, not gold or silver) and he was speaking before he died on the cross to fulfill the law so the Old Covenant was still legally binding.
Gentiles were never commanded to keep the law or be cursed this was said to the nation of Israel before Christ died and redeemed us from the curse of the law. Galatians 3:13-14.
You do not have to be a Rocket Scientist to understand that you cannot be redeemed from the curse of the law and cursed at the same time by something previously written.
We are now lead by the Holy Spirit in all things even in money matters.
In conclusion it is sin to support false doctrine or a Pastor who has not repented (confessing his sin) by enabling him to continue with your financial support.
Finally, the body of Christ needs to get a revelation on the difference between Old Covenant vs New Covenant. Law vs Grace. Jesus gives us daily grace and even forgiveness but the bible is clear that when we confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive us of all unrighteousness.
Notice it said confess not cover them up!
Romans 10:4 “Christ is the end of the law for righteousness for every believer.
Hebrews 8:6 Jesus is the mediator of a better covenant with better promises
Galatians 2:21 I do not frustrate the grace of God for if righteousness comes by the law Christ died in vain.
Galatians 5:4 “You who seek to be justified by keeping the law have fallen from grace
Galatians 4:24 This is an analogy of the Old Covenant vs the New Covenant
Galatians 4:30 “Cast out the slave women for the slave woman and her son (the Old Covenant) shall not inherit the promise with the free woman’s son.
Galatians 3:11 “Clearly no one is justified by the law
Eddie and Creflo should thank God for his grace or they may have been stoned to death for eating their Pork pot roast dinner or for some worst act that I shall fail to mention!
