The Time Is Now illustrates the ability and growth of his commitment to Christ. In his earlier years, Doobie Powell was centered on his own talent. Now, his relationship with God is the center. This project is growth in Him (Christ) which has stimulated growth in Powell’s music. Doobie reflects that he was totally in another place when he did the first CD’s. From the death of this first wife to having his home burglarized and recording studio completely wiped out, he grieved, coped, survived and achieved. His life has changed drastically since his first project and now he has much to say.

This is actually Doobie Powell’s fifth CD but his first national release. Although Doobie has a tremendous fan base and is one of gospel’s most sought after musicians, his previous CD’s had proven difficult to obtain for his supporters due to lack of distribution. After many closed doors at several record labels, Doobie found home at BKS Music Group. BKS signed Doobie Powell to the label and will have the project available online and in retail stores across the country.

This project was to happen a long time ago, but in kairos time, it has come to pass. “This project symbolizes the time that God has ordained for me to come out to the world,” Doobie emphasizes. “The Time is Now” is another confirmation to me that everything happens in Gods timing.” “In Spite of It All” is the first single from the project. It’s Doobie’s continual declaration that in all that he’s been through, he is still here and he will forever rejoice.

BKS Music Group and Doobie Powell invites the public to attend “The Time Is Now” DVD recording Oct 24 at 6:30 PM being taped at the Education Center for the Arts in New Haven, CT. It’s live and promising to be a phenomenal musical experience! Doobie Powell’s guest for the evening will include the Kergyma Community Choir. It’s free to the public (free will offering) and will give the first glance at what’s in store for the upcoming year, his new project and another phase in Doobie’s musical journey.

Ulish Booker, III serves as CEO and his father Ulish Booker, Jr. takes the reign as President. Ulish Booker, Jr., minister and skilled guitar and bass player, has produced numerous albums over his career on gospel music. He is also currently head of The Department of Evangelism for the Second Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of Connecticut Church Of God In Christ.

The father and son team have established a power house of gospel artist and inked deals to develop the most gifted and innovative new talents in gospel. BKS Music Group’s roster includes Quartet hit makers Doc McKenzie and the Hi-lites, Perry “Baby” Taft and Robert Holland; and Connecticut’s dynamic Kergyma Community Choir. Contemporary songwriter Doobie Powell will debut his national release as will Billy “Church Boy” Powell – up and coming urban gospel artist and noted drummer. New projects on these artists will begin to roll out first quarter of 2009.
